Community GroundWorks' Savor the Summer Cookbook is here!

by Marge Pitts

Greetings to those who like to eat, read and color!

Community GroundWorks' Savor the Summer Cookbook is here! This is a community cookbook with recipes and tidbits from our friends and neighbors, plus a childrens' story called "The Animals Recipes--A Community Gardens Tale,"  by Marge Pitts; PLUS adorable coloring book illustrations by Madison artist Diane Neukirch.

We're working on getting these cookbook into a few local stores and restaurants in the near future--and we'll announce asap once we finalize that. For now, you can buy your Savor the Summer Cookbook for only $6 at the information table at the Northside Farmers Market. Proceeds benefit Community GroundWorks, the nonprofit organization which runs programs at Troy Gardens and has recently installed a vegetable garden on the Capitol Square.

Friends and neighbors who contributed recipes and tidbits for the cookbook can pick up their free copy at the Northside Farmers Market, or email margepitts@sbcglobal.net and we'll get a cookbook into your hands right away.

And of course, you can buy your copy of the Savor the Summer Cookbook at the Savor the Summer Festival at Troy Gardens, Saturday, Aug. 7 from 3-7 pm. While you're at Savor the Summer, take a free hayride around Troy Gardens, enjoy a healthful free community gardens feast, be amazed by the Boys & Girls Club Black Star Drum Line performance, enjoy the music of Maury Smith & Jet Carpenter--and slurp on a free ice cream cone from Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream of Madison!
