NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY

September 27 -- 9 a.m. to 4 pm.

Work Projects and Food Forest Walkabout

Gather on our 26-acre site to tour maple woodland, tallgrass prairie, edible woodlands, kids garden and organic farm. Morning work party projects include invasive species removal, trail maintenance and tree care (9am - 12pm).  

Join Master Naturalist Christine Lilek for a talk about and walkabout featuring food forests (2pm - 4pm)!

National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands. NPLD 2014 will take place on Saturday, September 27.

TREE SCHOOL!

Please join Community GroundWorks and Urban Tree Alliance for a 5-week series about our local trees and forests. Classes meet on Wednesdays, starting September 10, from 6:00-7:30 at the Lakeview Public Library and Troy Gardens; all classes are FREE! Click HERE for more information.

ENVIRONMENTAL CAREER DAY at TROY GARDENS

Community GroundWorks is hosting a Career Day Event on August 7th from 9 am - 12 pm. The event will provide an opportunity for community youth to learn about careers in environmental fields and to seek advice as they move down their future paths. Local professionals from areas such as Urban Forestry, Native Landscaping, Environmental Education and Gardening will give interactive presentations about their careers and be available to answer questions. Refreshments will be provided! Please meet by the red sheds at 500 Troy Drive. In the case of rain, the event will likely be moved to the Community GroundWorks office at 3601 Memorial Drive. FUN IN THE PRAIRIE

Join the Community GroundWorks Natural Areas crew on Saturday, July 19 from 9:00am-12:00pm for a morning of FREE crafts and activties while learning about prairies and ecosystems. Open to the public - kids of all ages welcome! Meet in the prairie grotto behind Troy Gardens.
