Youth Grow Local was developed to support youth gardening, farming, natural areas restoration, and nature study at urban schools, community gardens, and natural areas. Through this initiative, a diverse population of children in our community will:A girl in front of the Kids' Garden sign.

  • Learn to grow and prepare a delicious array of garden vegetables and fruits,
  • Increase their appreciation for outdoor exercise in urban gardens and natural areas,
  • Develop a greater appreciation of healthy, local food.

In addition, youth garden leaders and teachers will increase their knowledge and skills related to facilitating successful youth garden programs. Through Youth Grow Local, we offer curriculum, counsel, and professional development to school teachers and community educators interested in developing or improving garden programs at their schools, community centers, and community gardens.
